Comparison
TutorPax vs Teachable
Teachable is a course platform: you upload lessons, it handles the student experience, the checkout, and the drip schedule. It is very good at exactly that one job.
TutorPax is not a marketplace and never sends you students. It rents you the website — your own domain, your own pages, your own course sales — for a flat €19 a month, and takes nothing from what you charge.
Where Teachable is the better choice
- A mature course player with quizzes, drip content, and completion tracking.
- Built-in affiliate and bundle tooling if courses are your main income.
- Handles course tax and checkout edge cases you would not think of.
Why tutors look for something else
- It is a course, not a practice. There is no real home for your one-to-one tutoring, rates, or availability.
- Your course sits on their subdomain unless you pay up, and your brand is theirs by default.
- Overkill and overpriced if live teaching is most of your income and courses are the side dish.
- No lesson enquiry flow — the thing that actually books your calendar.
How they charge
A monthly subscription by tier, with transaction fees on lower tiers. Priced for course creators rather than for tutors who mostly teach live.

Straight answer
When you should stay with Teachable
You have no students yet
If you have nowhere to send people yet, the tool matters far less than having something published at all. Use whatever gets you live this week.
You teach occasionally
A flat monthly fee only beats a percentage once you are teaching regularly. A few hours a month and the maths goes the other way — check it before you move.
Most tutors run both for a while. The marketplace keeps producing students while your own site builds up search traffic and referrals, and the balance shifts on its own.
Questions tutors ask
I want to sell a course AND tutor. Which one?
If courses are more than about three-quarters of your income, use a dedicated course platform. If you mainly teach live and the course is a second income stream, a tutoring site that happens to sell courses is the cheaper and simpler shape.
