TutorPax vs Squarespace

Squarespace is a design-first site builder with a strong reputation for templates that look good with no effort. It is a general tool — tutoring is just one of a thousand things people build with it.

TutorPax is not a marketplace and never sends you students. It rents you the website — your own domain, your own pages, your own course sales — for a flat €19 a month, and takes nothing from what you charge.

Where Squarespace is the better choice

  • The templates genuinely look better out of the box than most builders.
  • Clean editor, reliable hosting, no clutter.
  • A good fit if your site is mostly a brochure and a contact form.

Why tutors look for something else

  • Course video at any real size is not what it is for.
  • Entitlement — making sure only the students who paid can watch — is not something you can assemble reliably.
  • Tutoring-specific pieces (enquiry inbox, reviews you moderate, lesson pages) have to be improvised.
  • You are paying for design flexibility you will use once, at launch.

How they charge

A monthly subscription by tier. Selling digital products and courses sits on the higher tiers, and video hosting beyond short clips generally means a separate service.

Straight answer

When you should stay with Squarespace

You have no students yet

If you have nowhere to send people yet, the tool matters far less than having something published at all. Use whatever gets you live this week.

You teach occasionally

A flat monthly fee only beats a percentage once you are teaching regularly. A few hours a month and the maths goes the other way — check it before you move.

Most tutors run both for a while. The marketplace keeps producing students while your own site builds up search traffic and referrals, and the balance shifts on its own.

Questions tutors ask

My Squarespace site looks great. Is this a downgrade?

If your site is a brochure and you are happy with it, keep it. The reason to move is the part a brochure cannot do: selling a recorded course, gating the video behind a purchase, and getting paid for it without stitching three services together.
